Southern Music

A lot of the blogosphere is buzzing with southern this and southern that. To their credit they are trying mightily to capture the essence of my native land. On the other hand… Are we even talking about the same culture??? I mean come on.

The Avett Brothers are a good representative of Southern Music. A mix, a mutt, a nice turn of phrase using influences from around the music world. The Allman Brothers and GnR to Bill Monroe. Now that is Southern. Take the best leave the rest. The yankees can have that.

In any case I wanted to share my favorite Avett Brothers song this afternoon. Wonderful music to chill out to. Have a bourbon and a cigar. Watch your kids run today and by all means pat your wife on the rear and tell her “I love you”…
